GARDEN CITY, N.Y. — Long Island’s Adelphi University has received a $9.5 million gift from financial executive Robert Willumstad.
Its business school will be named the Robert B. Willumstad School of Business.
Willumstad is co-founder and senior adviser of the private equity firm Brysam Global Partners.
The university said his gift is equal to the single-largest donation in its 116-year history.
Willumstad said he was investing in the Garden City-based school because it is “part of the central fabric of Long Island.”
He serves as chairman of Adelphi’s board of trustees. He attended the university in the 1970s.
The business school has 580 undergraduates and 410 graduate students.
