LONG ISLAND CITY, N.Y. — With 100 days to go to the London 2012 Olympic Games, the Citi Team USA Flag Tour made its fifth stop today at Citi’s site in Long Island City. U.S. Olympian Cullen Jones (swimming) and Paralympian Kari Miller (sitting volleyball), both members of Team Citi through Citi’s Team USA sponsorship, joined Citi Site President Maria Veltre, Citi’s Head of Marketing for North America Consumer Banking Vanessa Colella, and Citi employees in celebration and support of Team USA. Citi is the official bank sponsor of the 2012 U.S. Olympic and Paralympic Teams and the U.S. Olympic Committee.
“Today’s event is a great way to celebrate the 100 day milestone to the London 2012 Olympic Games, and we are thrilled to have two Team Citi athletes here to share the spirit and excitement with our employees,” said Veltre. “Few know more about the journey from ambition and achievement than the athletes who dedicate their lives to representing the U.S. in the Olympic and Paralympic Games. We at Citi could not be more proud to support them every step of the way to London. We also want to thank Kari, a veteran, for her service to our country.”
At the event, the athletes spoke to a crowd of more than 200 people, highlighting their participation in Citi’s Every Step of the Way℠ program, an innovative digital program benefiting U.S. Olympic and Paralympic hopefuls and athletes of all ages in communities across America. They shared their personal stories and discussed the U.S. Olympic and Paralympic Sport Programs that have inspired their personal journey from ambition to achievement.
