New York City has more stores than anyone could physically tackle, but somehow we always keep returning to the usual suspects. To break out of the rut, we’ve asked some local shopping and fashion gurus to provide their hidden retail gems—those unique stores around our fantastic city that we might not all know about. Cue the Beatles: We’re about to get a little help from our friends.

Joseph Teodoro is fashion designer and artist living in New York. When he isn’t working on sketches, murals, and doodles, he’s creating tote bags with cute sayings like “Tote-ally” and “Hey boo!”
I moved to Long Island City about a year ago and found this great little floral shop called fLorEsta. I’m admittedly not the most knowledgeable when it comes to flowers or plants, but I can definitely appreciate the simple beauty their presence brings to a home. I usually find flower shops a bit overwhelming but fLorEsta is that easy sanctuary where you can find some beautiful arrangements in a gorgeous little rustic ambiance.
I love stopping by to pick up a little arrangement for the weekend or just see what new floral designs are being made. I also love their scented soy candles.
