Welcome back to Curbed Comparisons, a column that explores what one can rent for a set dollar amount in various New York City neighborhoods. Is one man’s studio another man’s townhouse? Let’s find out! Today’s price: $4,200/month.
↑ Based on our research for this post, $4,000 seems to be the cut-off point for how much you need to spend to rent a top-of-the-line multi-bedroom place in Brooklyn. Sure, we can argue about what constitutes top-of-the-line-ness, but take this 3BR, 2BA 1,176-square-foot place in Park Slope, available for $4,200/month. Pretty nice, right? Definitely in the upper portion of the line. High floor, big rooms, balcony, floor-to-ceiling windows, very luxury condo-ish bathroom. And if you’ve got a couple roommates, it’ll only run you $1,400 a piece.
↑ First of all, just to get this out of the way, has there ever been a listing in Long Island City that didn’t include a picture of the Manhattan skyline and/or Roosevelt Island? We get it, Long Island City. You can see Manhattan. If real estate listings are to be believed, everybody in LIC just spends all their time staring wistfully across the East River. Anyway, this 1,400-square-foot 2BR, 2BA looks very nice and very big for $4,200/month.
↑ For only $4,000/month, you can rent this duplex on the Upper West Side. It has two of everything! Two floors, two beds, two baths, even two terraces. Unfortunately, it has zero laundry.
