Andrew Lippa‘s Drama Desk Award-winning musical The Wild Party will return to the New York area in an intimate new production featuring Broadway actors Courtney Glass and Anthony Hollock at the Secret Theatre.
Presented at Long Island City’s Secret Theatre July 12-28, Taryn Turney directs the pop musical based on the Joseph Moncure March poem. Lippa is also the composer of The Addams Family, John Jen, and the new musical Big Fish.
Here’s how it’s billed: “The Wild Party tells the story of one wild evening in the Manhattan apartment shared by Queenie and Burrs, a vaudeville dancer and a vaudeville clown. In a relationship marked by vicious behavior and recklessness (mirroring the time in which they live), they decide to throw a party to end all parties.”
Glass (Woman in White) stars as Queenie with Hollock (Hair) as Oscar in a cast that also features Adam Kemmerer (Wonderful Town) as Black, Keith Collins as Burrs and Missy Dowse as Kate.
Completing the cast are Lindsay Nass as Madelaine True, Dan Olsen as Eddie, Heather Anderson as Mae, Eugenio Vargas as Phil, Vincent Rodriguez III as Jackie, Ashley Nicole Keene, Erica Lindblad, Ryan Cavanaugh, Erin Holmes, Vanessa Altschuler and Derrick J. Parks.
The Wild Party has musical direction by Dror Baitel and choreography by Christopher Noffke.
