Fairfield Cheese Co. to compete in annual Cheesemonger Invitational
Fairfield Cheese Company has been invited to compete in the third annual Cheesemonger Invitational in Long Island City, New York on Saturday, June 23. In its third year, the competition promises to be fierce as 46 cheesemongers from across the country and world compete for the title.
The Cheesemonger Invitational is the ultimate party for cheese lovers and lovers of cheese. It is an all you can eat affair where last year’s winner Steve Jones will dare to create a unique, mind blowing, cheese-based smorgasbord of food unlike anything we have seen or tasted before.
The main event of the evening is Monger vs. Monger. Some of the best cheese shops in the the country will be endorsing their finest mongers to compete in a no-holds barred cheese battle extravaganza. That’s right, a cheese battle extravaganza. Forty mongers will begin, only one monger can win. Think Fight Club meets the Olympics for CHEESE.
The competition features several rounds: 1) tasting; 2) cutting wrapping; 3) plating; 4) pairing cheese. The top ten mongers will split a prize purse valued at $10,000.
Located at 2090 Post Road (adjacent to Harry’s), Fairfield Cheese Company has quickly become Fairfield’s premier source for artisanal and farmstead cheese, charcuterie and fine foods. Voted “Best Cheese Selection,” by CT Magazine, the shop offers regular tastings and an ongoing educational series, and designs custom cheese platters and gift baskets.
Hours are Monday through Thursday, 10 a.m.- 7 p.m.; Friday and Saturday, 10 a.m. until 8 p.m. The shop is closed Sunday.

Elderlaw round table
Attorney Lyn Eliovson has been invited by Diane Sullivan, Director of Community Relations at Cambridge Manor to present “Elderlaw Planning Options.” A round table discussion will be held on Thursday, June 28 at 12:30 p.m. at Cambridge Manor on 2428 Easton Turnpike in Fairfield. Attorney Eliovson will discuss different planning issues and the documents that a good estate and long term care plan require. Attendees will have the opportunity to learn about the multiple alternatives available, the recommended documents for a good plan, the basic forms of Medicare, Medicaid rules and planning, nursing home issues and admission questions. Networking that works
One of the best ways to introduce yourself, and your product or service, is through networking. If you are hesitant to attend networking events because you aren’t sure what goes on there, or you aren’t comfortable in a room full of strangers, or have attended a few without any results, this program is for you. Join presentation coach Debbie Fay and learn and practice solid networking skills that work — including: the key components of elevator speech, how to work the room, maximize the experience and follow-up afterwards. This program will take place Monday, June 18 at 7:00 p.m. at the Main Library, 1080 Old Post Road.
