Size Matters and The Confession will receive staged readings this August in The Platform Group’s Ladder Series: A Staged Reading Series Aimed at Getting New Plays to the Next Rung. Out of more than 100 submissions, ten new plays will receive a staged reading at The Creek and Cave in Long Island City, NY. The Ladder series is scheduled to begin in July and continue into early October.
On Sunday August 19, 2012 at 1pm, The Platform Group will present Size Matters by Bruce Post (John Gassner Playwriting Award). The play is a ridiculous black comedy that highlights the sexual politics of gender. The staged readings will be directed Dina Epshteyn (Lubbock or Leave it) ). The Cast includes BranDon Jones (ReEntry Actors Theater of Louisville/Round House Theater), Jack Haley (30 Rock, Boardwalk Empire and Law Order: SVU, Hope Springs with Meryl Streep and Tommy Lee Jones), Claire Gresham (Awesome Bear with EST), and Domenica Galati (world premiere run of Separation Rapid at The Chenango River Theatre, The Sopranos).
On Sunday August 26, 2012 at 1pm, The Platform Group will present The Confession by Will Arbery (A BURIAL, PAULA STROM). The play is a dark comedy involving a relationship that develops between two priests. The staged readings will be directed by Ilana Becker (Assistant Director Broadway, Reasons to be Pretty). The cast includes Daniel Marcus (Broadway’s 1776, Woman in White, Pal Joey, Urinetown), Harrison Unger (The Awakening), Christopher Norwood, and Trent Dawson (As the World Turns 3x Emmy nomination).
