Last Friday fashion photographer Christian Conti welcomed the world to his new gallery creative space, StudiosLIC, with an exhibition featuring his highly acclaimed “Portraits in Fashion” collection. The vast 7000 square-foot Long Island City space boasts four adaptable studios, sliding walls, professional grade equipment and a scenic roof top overlooking mid-town. Conti’s mission is to afford both industry and aspiring artists with a free range creative space that inspires creativety while maintaining affordability.
Opening night at SLIC was heralded by Conti’s own work, a four year accruement of beauty and fashion photos many of which have been featured in Vogue Italia, Numero and GQ. The Italian photography legend floated through the crowd, greetings and posing for photos with collogues and friends while attendees were treated to cocktails and Hors d’oeuvres. Midway through the night guests assembled in one of the larger studios to witness two captivating performances from ACB Dance Company. The contemporary ballet evoked a full range of emotion, from laughter to awe, all in the name of beauty.
StudiosLIC offers a true sense of the coveted NYC art scene, from their feature events to the innovative work space SLIC is about gathering passion and vision under one roof.
