Detectives at the 114th Precinct Squad last week arrested the gunman who opened fire at a Long Island City liquor store on April 7, killing a 37-year-old ex-convict.
Cops arrested Tori Burke, 22, on September 24 in the fatal shooting of Skaka Ryan, 37, inside Soloman Liquors at 24-14 34th Ave. in Long Island City.
Cops said Burke was one of two people inside Soloman Liquors at about 7:15 p.m. on April 7 when he and an accomplice approached and opened fire, striking Ryan three times in the head, torso and left leg.
Ryan was taken to a nearby hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
Detectives learned that Ryan, who had recently been paroled after serving jail time for manslaughter and weapons possession, participated in a home invasion during which Burke was robbed and pistol-whipped, police said.
Police sources said Burke never reported the home invasion and carried out Ryan’s murder in retaliation for the robbery.
Ryan’s murder sent shockwaves through the Astoria commercial strip that is no stranger to gun violence.
Soloman Liquors is located several storefronts from Crescent Chemists, the site of a February 2011 shooting that killed a 32-year-old mother of two young sons.
