Citigroup Inc.’s (C) retail branches in mandatory evacuation areas will remain closed on Monday, but the bank hasn’t made a decision about branches elsewhere, a spokeswoman said.
New York City mayor Michael Bloomberg has ordered the evacuation of low-lying areas, including parts of downtown Manhattan. Citi hasn’t made a decision about its operations in its Long Island City office tower.
Three branches in downtown Manhattan are sandbagged and closed. One branch each on the Rockaway Peninsula, Coney Island, and on Long Beach Island, N.J., are also in mandatory evacuation areas and will remain closed.
“We are ready to provide financial recovery solutions should clients be in need of assistance, including access to cash and waiving fees for those who have been impacted by the storm,” a Citi spokeswoman said.
“We are in the process of implementing branch and building continuity plans,” she said. “The safety and security of our colleagues and customers is our top priority.”
