DUMONT — Patrick Joseph, 78, of Dumont died Oct. 24 after a brief illness.
A native of Clohanmore, Miltown Malbay, County Clare, Ireland, he immigrated to the United States in 1960 and lived in the Bronx and Long Island City, N.Y., before settling in Dumont 36 years ago.
Mr. Crowe retired in 1997 after working 27 years as an operating engineer for Local 94-94A in New York City.
He continued to work part time at the First Congregational United Church of Christ in Haworth, NJ.
Mr. Crowe was a member of the Irish-American Social Club and a former member of St. John’s Council 1345, Knights of Columbus.
Surviving are Mary (nee Kelly), his wife of 42 years; his children, Noreen and her husband John Hickey, Brigidette Crowe, Linda and her husband Will Dunlea, Maura Crowe and her husband Nate Weibel, and Timothy Crowe and his wife Suzann; and his four grandchildren Liam, Meghan, Mary and Dylan.
Mr. Crowe is also survived by nine siblings, Mary Nesbitt, Kitty Donnelly, Margaret Murphy, Jamsie Crowe, Bridget O’Sullivan, Teresa Lydon, Thady Crowe, Nora Corcoran and Helen Walsh; and many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents, Timothy and Nora Crowe (nee Talty); and two brothers, Thomas and Stephen.
The family will welcome friends Sunday, Oct. 28, at the Frech Funeral Home, 161 Washington Ave., Dumont.
The funeral was Monday, Oct. 29, with a funeral mass at St. Mary’s R.C. Church, Dumont. Interment was in Mount Carmel Cemetery, Tenafly.
