Leila Mulla Arrested: Ex-Stripper Charged In 28-Year Murder Cold Case Of Gary …

A former stripper is dancing with the law thanks to new evidence in a 28-year cold case.

Police arrested Leila Mulla in Long Island City, N.Y., on Monday in connection to the 1984 murder of a Louisiana businessman, the New York Post reports.

Baton Rouge-based officers used new DNA lab tests to charge Mulla, 47, in the case of missing fast food executive Gary Kergan. Although Kergan’s body was never recovered, courts declared him dead in 1986, according to KADN.

Malla’s ex-boyfriend Ronald Dunnagan, 64, of Bossier City, Los Angeles, is also charged in Kergan’s murder.

Kergan was last seen on Nov. 29, 1984, leaving the former “Night Spot Lounge” on Plank Road in Baton Rouge.

Kergan and his car were missing. Detectives said his car was found abandoned in Metairie with puddles of blood in the trunk. While police launched an extensive search for Kergan, his brother was leaving no stone unturned keeping every newspaper clipping of his older brother’s case, some dating back to 1984.

Mulla was the last person seen with Kergan and police charged the then teenage pole dancer with crimes connected to his death. A Louisiana district attorney at time opted not to prosecute, citing lack of evidence.

New lab tests administered on DNA taken from the trunk of Kergan’s bloody pink Cadillac allegedly link Mulla and Dunnagan to the case, according to the Queens Chronicle.

Mulla is charged with robbery, second-degree murder and criminal conspiracy.
