To the list of new developments headed for Long Island City’s Court Square we must add one more. Developer Rockrose, which has already put its stamp on the neighborhood with two other rentals, will be redeveloping the former Eagle Electric building at 43-22 Queens Street, The Real Deal reports. The ultimate result will be a 2,400-unit, three-building rental project.
A six-story building already stands on the site, but for tax reasons, the majority of the project needs to be new construction. So part of that building will be demolished, and another tower, perhaps 30 stories high, will go up on the site. The rents aren’t official yet, Rockrose higher-ups told The Real Deal, but will probably be in the neighborhood of $1,800/month for a studio, $2,600/month for a 1BR, and $3,400/month for a 2BR.
