There are actually very few no-fee apartments in LIC. Most of them are locked up in the big rental buildings which means you pay broker and application fees. Some of them are in the luxury-style loft buildins (Arris), and you pay a lot in board fees.
So the relatively few, unique, vintage buildings with cool loft spaces are interesting to check out.
Number 1 – a converted 2 bedroom near Court Square which is on the top floor of a small warehouse building. Rapid Realty is now the ground floor tenant and there is another apartment. A big 100+ unit building is coming at the end of the block and there is a Bank of America and Sage at the corner on Jackson Ave.
Number 2 — this seems to appear about 15 times on Craigslist, but it is probably just one apartment.
Some silly broker is representing it surely, the profile pic for the apartment is a toilet about 7 out of 10 times.
However, it is kind of cool — the old diner there of uncertain future on 11st near the Pulaski bridge has an upstairs. It was once a car service. They appear to have done a pretty decent “Home Depot” renovation of the place. Nice views and southern light.
$4,000 for a 3 bed. I would be surprised if the diner was paying that much rent.
