Tenants Political Action Committee Endorses Ben Kallos for City Council
(New York, N.Y.) Tenants Political Action Committee (Tenants PAC) endorsed Ben Kallos for City Council in Manhattan’s District 5 (the Upper East Side and Roosevelt Island) today, citing his strong support of tenants’ rights. Tenants PAC is a political organization committed to advancing the rights of New York’s residents through the democratic process.
“I am thrilled to accept this endorsement from Tenants PAC. Tenants PAC does amazing work in a city where the vast majority of us are tenants,” said Kallos. “I look forward to partnering with Tenants PAC to ensure New Yorkers get the housing rights we deserve.”
Kallos has worked on progressive legislation to ensure that housing remains affordable for years to come. His open platform includes promoting a unified and more transparent application process for affordable housing and a centralized, searchable vacancy database for affordable options. It also includes protecting renters’ health by enforcing strong health regulations and fighting tenant blacklists.
“Tenants PAC is proud to support Ben Kallos for Manhattan’s District 5. He is someone that we can trust to stand up for tenants – a person of action and a champion of tenants’ rights,” said Michael McKee of Tenants PAC.
Tenants PAC will back candidates in the 2013 race who strongly support tenants’ rights with key on-the-ground assistance.
Kallos has been the Executive Director of a leading good government group, attorney, and the former Chief of Staff for Assembly Member Jonathan Bing. As a human rights lawyer, Kallos advocated on behalf of employee rights. Learn more about his run for City Council District 5 at http://KallosForCouncil.com.
