Garden City
–
On July 29, I had the pleasure to see Long Island singer Andy Putman perform live at the Hurricane Grill and Wings in Garden City, New York.
He accompanied himself on acoustic guitar and he collaborated with fellow songstress Megan Rose. Both musicians were gracious enough to take requests from the patrons of the restaurant.
They played such covers as Jason Mraz’s “I Won’t Give Up,” Karmin’s “Brokenhearted,” meanwhile Megan sang a soothing medley of Carly Rae Jepsen’s “Call Me Maybe” coupled with Katy Perry’s “Teenage Dream.”
“American Idol” season 11 winner Phillip Phillips would have been proud of their rendition of his breakthrough hit single “Home,” especially since they harmonized so well together.
Andy soared on Lifehouse’s stirring ballad “You and Me,” as well as The Calling’s “Wherever You Will Go,” which was a request. Megan belted out Adele’s spitfire hit single “Rolling in The Deep.”
Equally impressive were their versions of Kid Rock and Sheryl Crow’s “Picture,” as well as “Little Talks,” which is originally done by the group Of Monsters and Men.
The Verdict
Overall, it was a fun evening of food and music and Andy Putman is always worth seeing live. He puts a lot of hard work and passion in the songs that he performs and he is subsequently able to make all of these covers his own.
“Andy is such an amazing singer. His voice is as smooth as silk and he left us all wanting to hear more. I had a great time and I look forward to his next live performance,” said Barbara Goldsmith, a restaurant patron and music fan.
