The Metropolitan Transportation Authority will begin two new bus routes on Sunday that will serve portions of Queens.
The Q70/33 route is aimed at improving local service between the Woodside-61st Street Long Island Rail Road station and LaGuardia Airport while simultaneously speeding up service for travelers between the two transportation hubs. The B32 will run between Long Island City and Williamsburg, Brooklyn.
A statement issued by the LIRR said the new Q70 Limited will run 24 hours a day, and is designed to get passengers between the train station and the airport in 12 minutes; and from Manhattan to the airport in as little at 35
It will run along the Q33 route and serve all LaGuardia terminals now served by that line, while the Q33 will now stop outside the airport at 95th Street and Ditmars Boulevard before returning.
The Q70 will not serve LaGuardia’s Marine Air Terminal, which will continue to be served by the Q47.
Both the new Q70 and the amended Q33 will have schedules adjusted for peak, off-peak and overnight hours.
Long Island City will be the northern terminus for the new B32, which also starts Sunday and runs between the E and M subway station at Court Square-23rd Street in Long Island City and Williamsburg Bridge Plaza In Brooklyn.
It will operate seven days per week between the hours of 7 a.m. and 9 p.m.
