In the 22nd Council District, which encompasses Astoria, Long Island City and parts of Jackson Heights, three Democrats are running in the primary to succeed term-limted Councilman Peter Vallone Jr. Costa Constantinides, a district leader, has received a bulk of the endorsements and has stuffed his campaign warchest, raising more $134,000. Attorney John Ciafone and Community Board 1 member Constantinos “Gus” Prentzas are also in the race.
