The Tottenville boys’ lacrosse team is powering through the PSAL division as it took a commanding 10-1 road win over Long Island City Thursday.
Solid defensive play was provided by the efforts of Thomas Annan, Joseph Garosaro and Chris Nichols.
The offense was firing on all cylinders with a total of seven goal-scorers, which include senior captain Nicholas DeMeo (3 assists), Anthony Delacroce, and Shane Royal who each netted two goals apiece.
“There a good set of kids…and the seniors have experience,” said Tottenville head coach Demetrios Haronitis, whose club improved to 12-0.
The Pirates have one game left Monday against Frederick Douglass Academy, before the Staten Island Shootout on May 8. This year’s event will be hosted by the first-place Pirates.
Haronitis feels the team is ready and excited for the tournament. “They are ready and we believe we should be prepared for teams like Farrell,” the coach said.
Compared to last season, the Pirates have the same record, but they will be looking for redemption as they dropped the shootout-championship match last season to Monsignor Farrell.
