Once upon a time, Long Island City was a hotbed of industry, but over the last decade, it’s become a hotbed for residential development thanks to a 2001 rezoning. Since then, roughly 5,000 units have been added to a 37 block area that encompasses the LIC microhoods of Court Square and Queens Plaza. Many more are still in the planning stages, and many others were completed years ago. To keep up with the current boom, we tracked 24 projects that are in the works or were completed within the last year. From warehouse conversions to the tallest residential building in Queens, there is a lot on the rise. Did we miss one? Leave a comment or send a note to the tipline, and we’ll gladly add it to the list.
