Oh Long Island City, you slay us sometimes. With news. Specifically, with your many, many, many apartments, new and on the way. And, lo and behold, here are some more to add to the list. Rental building 26-14 Jackson Avenue opens its doors for leasing this weekend. Of its 98 units, studios start from $1,984/month, one-bedrooms from $2,654, and two-bedrooms from $3,277. (The numbers are not pretty because MNS is advertising that the first month is free, so this is essentially 11 months’ rent divided by 12.) These apartments come to us courtesy of Ekstein Development, and unlike the glassy TF Cornerstone-built waterfront complex nearby, they’re clad in an industrial reddish color.
The units are 80 percent market-rate and 20 percent affordable, but the opportunity to apply for the affordable units has already come and gone. Amenities include a gym, virtual doorman, laundry room, and furnished roof deck. And, to fete the grand opening, there’ a “boozy brunch” from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. It’s a shocker they’re targeting young professionals, eh?
