Key Food Stores Co-operative, a chain of independently owned and operated grocery stores, is proud to announce the grand opening of its newest Urban Market location at 50-01 2nd Street, Long Island City. To celebrate, Urban Market hosted a grand opening celebration on November 14.
State Senator Michael Gianaris, Councilmember Jimmy Van Bramer, Queens Borough President Melinda Katz, city Deputy Commissioner for Business Acceleration Robinson Hernandez, city Department of Small Business Services Client Manager Lisa Ennis, Queens Community Board 2 District Manager Debra Markell-Kleinert and Key Food executives, including Chief Executive Officer Dean Janeway, Chief Operating Officer George Knobloch, Vice President of Strategic Planning Chet Koby and Vice President of Business Development John Durante were in attendance. The grand opening celebration featured a ribbon-cutting ceremony, as well as live entertainment for the whole family, giveaways, and an appearance by Elvis Duran and the Z100 Morning Show’s DJ Greg T.

At 8,000 square feet, this new Urban Market has a large produce department that offers shoppers equal selections of organic and regular products. Customers will also find an extensive cheese selection, featuring options from countries all around the world. The deli department, headed by an experienced gourmet chef, features catering services. Customers also have the option of having their groceries delivered.
