NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) – Emergency responders are on the scene after a man fell through a grating in Long Island City.
The incident took place at around 10:50 a.m. at Jackson Avenue near Court Square, according to EMS.
The man was rushed to Bellevue Hospital with serious injuries to his leg and head, EMS said.

Witness Howard Blumenfeld told CBS2 a man was trying to fish his keys out from the bottom of the grate but was unable to. The victim lifted the grate up and lowered down a ladder, Blumenfeld said. On his way climbing down, the man apparently slipped from the ladder, Blumenfeld said.
