A suicidal man took a fatal plunge from a Queens hotel window Sunday afternoon, despite NYPD efforts to talk him to safety, police sources said.
The man jumped from an eighth-floor window at the Country Inn Suites on Crescent St. near 41st Ave. in Long Island City shortly after 3:30 p.m., according to sources.
Members of the NYPD’s Emergency Services Unit were trying to convince him to come back inside when he leapt, the sources said.
The scene unfolded quickly, said Faris Halim, who works at a nearby gas station.

“I was watching him. He was at the window,” Halim said.
Halim looked away for a second, and that’s when the man jumped.
“It sounded heavy, you know. Boom, just boom,” Halim said. “I felt like my adrenaline is going up and my heart stopped. You can’t imagine it. It’s hard, seeing something like that.”
A hotel employee declined comment Sunday afternoon.
In an unrelated incident, police suspect suicide after a 37-year-old Manhattan woman was found dead inside a Gramercy Park hotel room Sunday afternoon.
Staff at The Marcel at Gramercy on E. 24th St. by Third Ave. walked into the room after the guest didn’t check out, police said.
Inside, they found the woman sitting in a chair with a plastic bag over her head, connected to a tube attached to a helium tank, according to authorities.
Police found suicide notes on the desk, cops said.
