NEW YORK — Storm warnings and watches remain in effect in New York City and Long Island as the storm continues to plummet the east coast.
The National Weather Service’s website says blizzard warnings will remain in effect Saturday until 7 a.m. Sunday for eastern and coastal portions of the mid-Atlantic, from mountain areas in Virginia to Washington, D.C., Philadelphia, New York City and Long Island, New York.
Winds are expected to pick up with gusts up to 55 mph, reducing visibility to nearly zero.

Coastal flood advisory also remains in effect until 10 a.m. Saturday.
As of 5 a.m., there was no reported flooding in Howard Beach, Broad Channel and Rockaway.
There were reported flooding in Barnegat Bay, New Jersey.
