Flux Factory is one of NYC’s oldest and most affordable collectively run art spaces. Flux Factory supports and promotes emerging artists through residencies, exhibitions, and collaborative opportunities. On Saturday, May 7, they’re holding the 1st Annual “Flux-a-Thon” — a spectacularly jubilant, semi-absurd twist on a traditional walk-a-thon — all to raise money for another year of Flux Factory’s unique, collaborative residency program.
Teams of artists and marchers will wander through the streets of Long Island City with their best mobile art floats and roving spectacles, to head from Flux Factory to Smiling Hogshead Ranch, where guest judges Hrag Vartanian (Hyperallergic), Paddy Johnson (Art F City), Harriet Taub (Materials for the Arts), Kevin Baltick, and Connie Wang (Refinery29) will award teams prizes for shiniest costume, best use of recycled materials, and more!
The day will conclude with a party at Smiling Hogshead Ranch for our marchers and supporters, featuring the Center for Holographic Arts behind the grill, and DJ Vinyl Richie and DJ SEAARCH.
