(L. to r.); Maria Torres-Springer, Commissioner, NYC Economic Development Corporation; Debra Markell Kleinert, District Manager; Elizabeth Lusskin, Executive Director, Long Island City Partnership; Councilman Jimmy Van Bramer; Assemblywoman Catherine Nolan; state Senator Michael Gianaris and Leslie Wright, NYC Regional Director, NYS Parks. Assemlywoman Cathy Nolan released a statement in which she commended the NYC Economic Development Corporation and the NYS Parks Department for coming to an agreement that will expand ferry service to provide an additional stop in the Long Island City community. She said, “After having some concerns and reservations about placing a second ferry stop in Gantry State Park, I believe that with the cooperation of both city and state agencies we can continue to expand ferry operations while preserving both park land and green space for our communities.
“I will continue to monitor this situation to ensure Gantry State Park is not negatively impacted by this arrangement.”
