Sales are now underway on what will become Longest Island City’s tallest condo building when it is complete next year. The Harrison, as the building is now known, is being developed by Silvercup Properties and features a total of 120 apartments. The New York Times first reported on the sales launch of the building, which is located at 27-21 44th Drive.
It’s important to note that it’s the tallest condo, since there are several other taller developments in the neighborhood like Rockrose’s 50-story building 43-25 Hunter Street, which is a 975-unit rental, and the Heatherwood Communities-developed tower at 42-12 28th Street, which stands 647-feet tall, though it’s not yet clear if that will be a rental or a condo.
Silvercup’s property will stand 27-stories when it is complete, and feature a mix of studio, one, two, and three-bedroom apartments. Prices range from $495,000 and go up to $2.5 million.
South-facing apartments on floors four through 14 will have views of the Manhattan skyline, and apartments on floors 15 through 26 will come with balconies. Some units in this section also come with large terraces. In contrast, a couple of units on the second floor come with private backyards.
Amenities in this GF55-designed building include an indoor/outdoor rooftop lounge, a children’s playroom, a fitness center, and gated parking. The first set of residents are scheduled to move in in the spring of 2017.
The development was previously known as The Edison, but some Times digging revealed that the Hotel Edison in Times Square had asked Silvercup to change the name to avoid confusion, and Silvercup complied. Though the Times does note that there’s another Harrison on the Upper West Side—they just haven’t heard from that building yet.
