Altice USA, one of the largest broadband communications and video service providers in America, announced that it will be moving its headquarters to Long Island City in Queens. The company, which purchased Cablevision Systems just over a year ago, plans to consolidate its local New York metropolitan area offices to Queens. Simultaneously, it plans to relocate employees from several of its satellite offices to its oversized Bethpage NY location. The motive for the moves is to better utilize its space, as reported by MultiChannel News. On Wednesday June 14th, Altice began notifying employees of the intended moves. The company aims to move corporate functions to Long Island City by the end of the fourth quarter. The company is now in its final stages of negotiations to lease a space in Long Island City for its headquarters.
The company will also rename their Bethpage campus to the ‘Operations Center’. This expansive location has been underutilized as yet. It has served as the Cablevision corporate headquarters for the past several years. Now Altice hopes to fill it up, consolidating about five other offices in the Bethpage area to that site. The move will include mostly local engineering and tech groups, as well as News 12. There are plans to update the Bethpage building, with a new News 12 studio and more modern and collaborative spaces. The move is slated to begin in 2018 and be completed by the end of 2019.
Altice USA, has also been in the news recently for having filed for an initial public offering of stock that could raise as much as $1.4 billion. The company serves 4.9 million residential and business customers across 21 states.
“As a leading New York employer, Altice USA is pleased to establish our Bethpage facility as a core Altice USA Operations Center and to continue making an impact in the local community”, said Lisa Anselmo, Altice USA spokeswoman, in a statement. “We remain committed to our presence on Long Island, and to creating a collaborative work environment for our employees to help expedite innovation and technology advancements for our customers. At the same time, we are excited to join the Long Island City community and to establish Long Island City as the company’s corporate headquarters. Long Island City is a vibrant and growing business location, and we look forward to creating a great place to work for employees.”
