Big names in the entertainment industry will join forces in Long Island City to raise money for Puerto Ricans affected my Hurricane Maria.
James Franco, Patti Smith and more will attend the Puerto Rico Hurricane Relief Fundraiser hosted at MoMA PS1 on Oct. 4. The fundraiser was announced by Councilman Jimmy Van Bramer on Twitter last week. All proceeds from the event will go to the Hurricane Maria Community Relief Recovery Fund.
To attend the event, which takes place from 6 to 8 p.m. at 22-25 Jackson Ave., those interested must RSVP and donate a minimum of $20 at the door.
While Lady Gaga was scheduled to attend, she recently canceled her European tour to recover from fibromyalgia and can no longer make the event.
Franco recorded a video asking people to donate to the cause.

It is not clear what kind of programming will take place at the event. A spokesperson for Van Bramer and MoMA PS1 did not answer requests for comment as of press time.
There have been several fundraisers around the borough to help victims of Hurricane Maria. Queens firehouses and precincts are collecting supplies while Citi Field acted as a drop-off center for donations last week. A Middle Village church is also collecting supplies to send to the ravaged island.
